Good Neighbor

Richard Ruggieri for PA District 13

neighbor

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,” Rogers said to his television neighbors, “my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’” — Mister Rogers

COVID-19 has impacted our lives in ways both big and small. While military training comes in handy, I have found it’s only though compassion and empathy that leaders emerge.  We must unite as a community in these difficult times.  It is of the utmost importance for each and every one of us to keep safe and stay healthy.  During this time, we have neighbors who are in desperate need of our support to maintain their health—physically and emotionally.  With Operation Good Neighbor, I am offering help and asking for your help. Help me and my team help the people who need it most in District 13. When we work together, we can accomplish anything.

Sign-Up for our Food Drive!

Because of social distancing, please have your donation next to your mailbox by 6AM the day of your pick-up. Operation Good Neighbor: Food Drive

In my campaign, my team and I want to live Mr Rogers words by being helpers. Because right now, we are all neighbors.  With that in mind, Food Scarcity is a very real issue in District 13. Especially while schools are closed, we will have children, seniors and families in our community in need of food.  My team and I are donating and will continue to donate to our three local food pantries, and we encourage you to do the same. If we all gave one or two non-perishable items each, we will fill the food pantries and have enough for everyone for now and in the future.

My team and I are going to help it make it easier for you to donate non-perishable items with our Operation Good Neighbor: Food Drive.  Now, this is no ordinary food drive because we are going to drive to you to pick up your donation.  Because of social distancing, we know it is difficult to make trips to your local food pantry.  Therefore, we are making the trip for you.  We have separated the food drive by School District and will be collecting food in your area on one of three different days each week.  All you need to do is place non-perishable canned goods and jars (we cannot accept boxes due to possible weather) by your mailbox, and we will pick it up and take it to the food pantry.

Operation Good Neighbor: Mask Making

Operation Good Neighbor is extending our efforts to support local mask makers in the region of the Avon Grove School District.

They are looking for people who have a willingness to support them in the following ways.

We will be picking up mask supplies along with our weekly food drive.  If you wish to donate, complete the form above, leave the items in a bag, and we will pick them up!  Thank you!

Operation Good Neighbor: Thinking of Our Seniors

Because they are at the greatest risk, our senior neighbors in retirement communities are isolated from the outside world.  This can be very emotionally isolating as well especially for those who are a distance from family or do not have family.

You and especially your young children have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our local seniors.  Please send Thinking of You cards, notes and letters to the following.  It’s a fun time to have a Pen Pal!

Jenners Pond

  • 100 Sycamore Drive, West Grove, PA 19390

Coloring Pages

Local artist, Alyce Denver, has generously created these coloring pages and gifted them to the campaign.  Please download, print and send to our local seniors.

Operation Good Neighbor: Helping Our Healthcare Workers

Our healthcare workers are on the frontlines of this battle.  As neighbors, we need to do everything we can to help them.  If you are a wood worker, painter, hair dresser, contractor, DIY home improver, or simply have any of the following, please contact us at ogn@ruggierpa13.com.  We will arrange a time to pick up your unused items (safely without social contact) and take them to Jennersville Hospital to help our healthcare workers.
